The Alpa 11 series was produced from 1971 in various incarnations and was the 4th (and last) generation of cameras produced in Switzerland by Alpa, an offshoot of the Pignons S.A. company.
A large proportion of the Alpa 11 models are designed for specific functions such as crystallography, document copying and utility meter reading.
The Alpa 11m 'Mercure' is another speciality camera and was designed specifically for use in creating microfilm documents. Available in two formats, 10x15mm and 11.75x16.5mm, the shutter had two speeds, 1/60 and T. The wind lever sticks out of the back like most cameras, rather than out of the front like most Alpas.
Only 85 units were produced between 1977 and 1982, making this a highly sought after collectors' piece.
