Nikkormat (or Nikomat in Japan) cameras were produced from 1965-1978 and were a simpler, more affordable version of the professional Nikon brand but accepted the same lenses as the Nikon F series. Introduced in 1965 alongside the Nikkormat FT, the FS is a non-metered version of it's stablemate. Unpopular at the time because of the omission of the meter as well as mirror lockup, it has become somewhat of a rarity nowadays making it more collectible than the FT. Larger and heavier than its peers of the time the FT/FS cameras stood out for their outstanding strength and durability as well as the quality of their internal parts.
