Leica's Ultravid line are remarkable roof prism binoculars which exceed even the lofty standards of the Trinovid models, while reducing weight and streamlining the chassis. Ultravids contours feel as immediately comfortable in your hands as does wearing an old pair of jeans, and they couldn't be easier to keep steady on your subject. They're available with rubber armoring in basic black, an attractive militaristic green and occasionally a purist's delight of black pebbled leather.

Hunters of big game and those who enjoy observing powerful birds of prey in flight need big combinations of light-gathering and magnification such as in a 12x50 binocular. These Ultravids are about as svelte as one could expect of such a beast. Comparing the specifications of dimensions and weight to the other offerings from premium manufacturers shows the startling difference, but despite these statistical advantages they're even more impressive when just held in the hand. The uniquely-shaped bridge displays its combined advantages of low mass, handling and rigidity, and these Ultravids will surely leave an indelible mark upon the sports optics industry.

High-powered binoculars are difficult to hold steady by hand; a monopod(and the required tripod adapter) with an incorporated fluid pan/tilt head or with such a head attached between the monopod and the binocular is highly recommended.

While the included cordura case is plenty durable, it does tend to abrade clothing if left at your side while walking. The optional cases will not do this.
